Medusa Radiometrics Gamma-Ray Sensor

The Medusa Radiometrics MS-100 SUB underwater gamma-ray counter is a CsI-crystal-based gamma-ray detector system intended for deep-water use, for instance in pipeline inspection applications in which a radioactive source is placed on one side of a pipe and the sensor on the other side. The radiation seen by the sensor is a measure for e.g. the filling of the pipe. Other applications are of course also possible.

The data is geo-referenced using either the operator position at the surface or the position of the Blueye X3 if an underwater positioning system such as the DVL A50 is added to the drone.

The system is tightly integrated with the Blueye system. The measurements (counts per seconds) are shown in the Blueye App and are added to the video overlay and still images. The sensor can be accessed from a Laptop or mobile phone using the Surface Unit Wifi during the dive.
